LOCAL DESIGN presents | ‘WHO CARE’S…?’ | @ The Design Residency
WHO CARES….? A question evoked by an evolving window installation reflecting LOCAL DESIGN as a subject. Do people even care what and who makes local design…? A design studio of innovative solutions, projects and experimentation, DAAST is the combined design thinking of designers Andrew Southwood-Jones and Alexander Kashindaast. When approached to take over this statement location within The Design Residency at 72 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst the boys yearned to initiate a conversation within an installation.
Andrew and Alex created a powerful statement and stance on the current standing of the design industry within Australia. Holographic text & textiles implemented to respond to the location and reflect the eclectic landscape environment. LIVE makings within the window of the designers unique 3D abstracted numeral hardware, stopped LOCAL passers by.
Who cares? Who designs? Who makes? Who is original? Who is fake? By asking direct public questions DAAST have united with LOCAL DESIGN to support and strengthen the integrity across the ambiguous world of design and hopefully changed the public’s opinion in regards to what authentic and original design is.
Whether your walking to work, commuting in the car or bus down or up Oxford Street over the next couple of days, stop, glance, absorb, think and respond to the question being asked >>> WHO CARES..?
During Tuesday nights designer drinks evening we asked the question via a discussion wall >>>>>>>
We want people to view design live and informed to respond to the question, with the best answers found across the social media channels through > @daastdesign @local_design @thedesignresidency #whocares #supportlocadesign #localdesign #daast
DAAST numerals are available in a variety of materials, sizes, finishes & customised commissions.
