Base Camp Berlin

Berlin is the perfect city for a base camp for any creative soul. The city is scattered full of interesting spaces where creatives can basically hot desk hop their days away to allow them to work freely on their projects. We based ourselves during the week out of the Michelberger Hotel, in the lively district of Friedrichshain a stones through away from the famous East Side Gallery. This former warehouse is the perfect trendy but budget friendly hotel to happily work and live out of for the week. The downstairs reception and bar area is always a buzz whether you be working down there or drinking ( usually both at the same time ), fitted out with stacks of books and magazine teared feature lights.

The rooms have an enchanting inspiring character about them, with huge windows allowing you spread out and work on their massive desk spaces under the dappled natural light or choose to work within the bar reception area the choice is yours. After mornings of slamming out some work we would hit the streets to see what Berlin is really made of and these are our top picks of this incredibly city:

About the Blog

The LOCAL DESIGN blog is a creative visual diary with content created and contributed by leading local and offshore creatives and designers.

We want the creative community to hide their inhibitions, let their hair down and showcase whatever their eclectic heart’s desire. From the projects they are working on, the places they are visiting, their childhood memories, what music they are listening too, whatever makes them tick, it is a complete open online creative platform. Go on we dare you to pick up a camera and tell us your stories….

Along with this open-minded approach to the blog we will also be reporting on global and local design weeks, events, exhibitions, shows etc. with raw and real visuals alongside interesting insider perspectives.

We are very excited to see what will happen on these pages……
