Bernabei Freeman

Rina Bernabei and Kelly Freeman of bernabeifreeman are obsessed with decoration, the domestic interior and the factory. From lighting to textile design, they aspire to create beautiful, quality designs that explore the significance of products in our lives.

The duo formed bernabeifreeman in 2002 and since then their work has been exhibited widely including at the Milan Trienale and Salon di Mobile, and locally at Object: Australian Design Centre and the Powerhouse Museum. They have won numerous design awards including the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award.

Rina and Kelly draw upon their passion for industrial design and decoration in creating designs which have a contemporary take on the traditional. Their designs are delicate and bold, precise and textured. Renowned for their extensive work with perforated metal, they have also recently created a new hand-knotted rug range for Designer Rugs and released Pop Light – a paper d.i.y. light that allows the end user to create their own design. With new lighting products soon to be released with ISM Objects and other exciting new collaborations underway bernabeifreeman continue to create modern day heirlooms which bring meaning to the domestic interior.
