Emma Elizabeth launches ‘Natural Progression’ | @ LOCAL DESIGN in collaboration with Designer Rugs
LOCAL DESIGN played host within their Chippendale creative concept space to designer & stylist Emma Elizabeth who launched her new collection ‘Natural Progression’ in collaboration with Designer Rugs. The collection stems from her previous success within Australia and overseas with the Round Diamond rug design, again she has focused on a textile that is a zoom in and exaggeration taken and/or abstracted from reality.
The collection Natural Progression consists of three designs: Plumage, Medusa & Pisces that can be customised to work within a square, rectangle, circle and even a triangular rug form. It is the power of customisation of form and colour that really pushed Emma Elizabeth into this conceptual textile realm, believing that there are three tears to natural progression as a theme in general: low, equilibrium and high, looking at these levels in nature to reflect her animal instinctive creative concept.
Emma Elizabeth worked with photographer Jem Cresswell to style and produce the new collections campaign imagery, utilising unique furniture pieces from SPACE Furniture. The highly stylised imagery see’s the rugs turn into fluid forms, creeping and crawling onto the furniture and walls. Made out of New Zealand wool & bamboo the graphic and tactile nature of the designs is a true trick on the eye.
