SKEEHAN X STELLEN – LOCAL DESIGN FOR LANE CRAWFORD……..

Skeehan x Stellen combines the unique talents of two of Australia’s leading design studios.- One, a design studio with in depth produc­tion knowledge, the other, an atelier with a strong design focus. The result is a symbiotic relationship that celebrates materiality and pushes the boundaries of traditional production methods. Tom Skeehan & Geordie Ferguson, have come together over the creative direction of LD’s Emma Elizabeth, to create The Aviso Collection featuring Kvadrat Textiles & Maharam Studio leathers.

Taking inspiration from yacht design and boat building techniques – AVISO is an armchair made exclusively for Lane Crawford with generous proportions and clean controlled curves. A minimal timber frame anchors the chair’s sculptural silhouette. The use of premium natural materials combined with exceptional craftsmanship builds a tactile experience that celebrates the ritual of relaxed seating. AVISO is placed at the intersection of traditional handcraft. technological precision and contemporary form. The components include: American ash timber – black, aniline leather – Hue by Maharam 700003, wool textile – Steelcut Trio by Kvadrat 465906, along with Aniline Leather – Tuft by Maharam 700004, Steep by Maharam 700007, Tinge by Maharam 700010, plywood and urethane foam. This exclusive piece is also available to be customised in specified fabrics from the Kvadrat and Maharam catalogues.

The AVISO table follows the material language and minimal form of the AVISO armchair. A solid keel like pedestal provides weight and balance, this anchors a central timber mast which in turn intersects a gently tapered timber disk. The contrast and intersection of form adds playful function.
