MILAN DESIGN WEEK | Silje Nesdal | SATELLITE

Within Rho Fiera’s Salone del Mobile in the Satellite section there was one particular stand that was a key stand out, B29-31. Four independent Norwegian designers showcased their individual projects in a beautifully stylized and colour pallet stand, we had to ask them are you a collective or are you all independent because as a whole the entire space worked as one solid thought out brand. The synergy they created through their personal works was subtle and simplistic, Silje Nesdel displayed a series of her product works that again all worked together in unison one complimenting the other, including her mustard jacket.

FLAP table is designed for a setting where space is a challenge, this lack of space that is becoming more and more prevalent in modern society was obviously gagged personally from her time spent in Japan. You with ease lift the flap ad turn the dining table into a desk, fabulous for those multi-dwelling creatives who need to turn their work space into their social space. By placing it against the wall the desk takes less space making your home feel bigger.

To compliment your FLAP table is MO the bench. Made by using natural materials developed by using old traditional techniques you can see her Norwegian heritage shine through. The meeting points between the frame and turned legs caught our eye, enhanced by cutting the leather delicately around the meeting point. But what to put ontop of your FLAP table….? Problem solved, Silje has created the perfect additional accessories too including: Hinken flower pots, Cluster candle holders and Granit book ends.

The moving movie premier esk light added to the drama of this stand out stand, yet I was told by the designers that the moving light was actually a fault in the ceiling lighting scheme of the trade fair, nothing like an accidental designer fault adding to their design performance platform . We look forward to bringing you Silje’s stand buddies, Morton & Jonas, designer story to you tomorrow. There soft colour combination sofa was truly a stand out at the Satellite which we sneakily pre posted on our instagram @local_design during the show.
