LOCAL DESIGN presents LOCAL MILAN No. 3

The third edition of LOCAL MILAN was presented last week during Milan Design Week, housed in a Palazzo within the 5 Vie district on Via Cesare Correnti 14.

LOCAL MILAN No.3 featured 26 Australian designers and was the largest independent showcase of Australian design to date in Milan. Curated and creatively directed by LOCAL DESIGN’s founder Emma Elizabeth, who styled and creatively directed the pieces to become reactive with each of the Palazzo’s bold interior coloured walls.

“It’s hard to describe Australian design as it draws from so many cultures and influences,” says Emma Elizabeth. “The objective of LOCAL MILAN is to present a collective of Australian design that will heighten the global perspective of our Australian aesthetic and style, encouraging and supporting local designers to continue raising the bar.”

The response from press, guests, visitors, industry and the general public was overwhelming, attendants to Milan Design Week this year was up 180% on last year, with over 1500 Fuorisalone exhibitions taking place around the city. So to be able to make some strong creative noise amongst that many exhibitions, is a heroic achievement for all of the designers involved and Australia as a design nation.

Guests to the Palazzo were greeted by the scent of BORONIA by Grandiflora’s Saskia Havekes, while an eclectic soundscape created by artist Mason Mulholland echoed through the rooms.
